Creating "admin links" for a custom app via the Shopify Admin

Hey, we are wanting to create a custom action that can be displayed on the product page under More actions, like this:

I believe the term for this is an “admin link”. I’ve read the documentation around this here, but it only describes how to achieve this for apps in the Shopify Partner Dashboard. Our app is a custom app that has been created via the Shopify Admin interface under Apps → Develop apps.

Within the partner dashboard, admin links can be created under Extensions, but there is nothing within the app settings in the Shopify Admin called Extensions.

Is there any way to achieve this functionality for this kind of app? Or are admin links available exclusively for apps created from the Partner Dashboard?

Any insight around this would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @LukaszWiktor , we weren’t able to figure out how to do this for a custom app, unfortunately.

What we ended up doing is creating a Shopify Partner account and creating an app under that instead.

It’s definitely not the most elegant solution since the app is built by us for our own store, and requiring a partner account definitely feels unnecessary and less seamless.

I’m hoping that Shopify will address this in the future though but it seems unlikely at this stage.
