Creating variants as separate products then using an app to combine and create variation options like with the app Product color. Unfortunately this would of worked for us, but it only allows one vary by option like just 1- color. I manage product listings for a fishing tackle shop so we have lures that vary by both weight and color. These need to be created as standalone products because we are using a software that pushes a Shopify tag to each variant in order for us to create a collection of these products and apply the collection to the tag and apply the discount to the collection. We had a problem when there were both on sale and full price items in a parent listing, it would push the entire full price tag onto all products, since tags are not on a variant level within parents – so we need to create them as standalone and have variation options like the product color app, but again, it only has one vary by option. Can you find a solution?
@nickm408 your explanation is bit confusing, but it seems you need a identifier at variant level.
Currently you are relaying on tags which don’t work at variant level.
I think you we could use metafield instead of tag your problem will be solved.
