Hello. I’m in the process of (trying to) start up my Shopify site. All of my items are hand-made, and many of them are made-to-order. For the made-to-order items, I would like to avoid having the customer pay for the item until they have agreed upon the proof. This process will be a conversation involving several back-and-forth communications where I ask for specific details, they provide answers or counter ideas, I mock up a proof of concept, they approve and pay for the project, and then I begin making it and finally ship it within a reasonable timeframe.
First question: is this possible with Shopify? Have the customer “check out” somehow with all of the variants, but not pay until we’ve spoken about it?
Second question: If that IS possible, will I be able to do this with some items in my shop, but not all? (I do have several pre-made items that fall into the typical order fulfillment flow).
Thanks for any answers or insight into how to best move my venture online with Shopify.
