Custom Product Page with Subscription Options

Is it possible to design a product page with following requirement ? How can I do it?

  1. The product page will be selling kids book subscription packages to the user. The customer will be prepaying for the subscription.
  2. User can choose: 1.Age group of Kid 2.Duration of the subscription 2. No of books per delivery.
  3. Based on the options chosen we will calculate the total price: Price = No of books * no of deliveries (depends on period of subscription) * cost per book
  4. User can add this product to cart and place the order. The order should have all the details that user have added.

What a great business you have of selling children’s book subscription packages to customers. I understand you’re looking to have some specific customization’s applied and that customers will be prepaying for this subscription.

In order to have subscriptions, you’ll need to set up subscriptions within your store and use a subscription app from our Shopify App Store. Once subscriptions is enabled within your store, your customers can make scheduled purchases. I would advise reviewing the eligibility requirements before setting up subscriptions. I’ll share the steps below on how to setup subscription products.

How to setup subscription products:

  • Navigate to your Shopify admin, click into Products.
  • Click the product that you want to manage the subscription of.
  • Select whether to sell the product as a subscription only:
  • To sell the product as a subscription only, check Sell product as a subscription only.
  • To sell the product as one-time purchases as well as subscriptions, uncheck Sell product as a subscription only.

I’d like to recommend an app called Bold Subscriptions that allows you to seamlessly add subscribe and save options to products, a specific collection or your entire store. You can also look into using webhooks to customize your subscriptions. Feel free to browse our Shopify App Store if you’d like to browse additional subscription apps.

I would suggest reaching out to the app developer directly to see if the subscription requirements you’re looking for can be customized within the app to fit your business needs. You can use the Get Support option directly within the app page or follow our resource on getting help with third-party apps.

Currently shopify is only approving three payment gateways for recurring subscriptions:

None of the above payment gateways works in India where my customers are from. Please correct me if I am wrong. Is there any other payment gateway that I can use for Subscriptions.

At this time, merchants must use Shopify Payments, PayPal Express, Authorize.net, or Stripe as a primary gateway to use the Subscriptions API. I understand that this limits the ability to use a subscription app for your business.

I’ve gone ahead and submitted your feedback to our developers to look into implementing more gateways to be eligible for the subscription API.

The official shopify documentation says only these Shopify Payments, PayPal Express, Authorize.net for subscriptions

Is Stripe payment gateway is allowed for subscriptions by Shopify? Can you please confirm this?
