Custom shipping rates for product bought alone

Hi I have managed to add a custom shipping rate of £2 to a smaller product on my site, but now if this item is bought along side a bigger item the customer is charged with two shipping rates (£2 + £5) when the smaller item could just go in the £5 package.

I would like to have it so that the customer only pays £2 on the smaller products shipping, unless they buy it with a larger item in which case the shipping would go back to my standard £5 price.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thankyou.
