Custom T-Shirt Design App - NOT DROPSHIP

Hey Folks,

I am looking for an app that will allow our customers to upload there own images and create custom printed hoodies, t-shirts etc. However, I print all the t-shirts and hoodies ourselves and I don’t need to use any kind of drop shipping service. All I need is the tool for customers to upload and position their designs, with the order details and images available for us to download. I use a Build a gangsheet app for customers to buy DTF prints from us, I need similar functionality but with customers laying out their images on blank products.

Almost every app I can find is solely for drop ship vending. I don’t mind paying a subscription as long as it gives us the features we need without drop shipping. I have looked at Kickflip and used to use an old version that they don’t have any more, so I’m not sure even that app witll do what I need.

Any advice or recommendations anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You’re right, most of the “design-your-own” apps on Shopify lean heavily toward print-on-demand workflows, so it’s annoying when all you want is the customizer, not the supplier behind it.

A few options that i used for my in-house production (no dropshipping required):

1. Lumise Product Designer

Probably the closest match to what you described.
Customers can upload images, position/resize them on mockups, and you can download print-ready files directly. It doesn’t tie you into POD fulfillment at all.

2. Zakeke

Fully independent of any dropshipping.
Supports front/back/sleeves layouts, layered designs, and image uploads. It exports high-res files for whatever workflow you already use (DTF, screen printing, etc.).

3. Fancy Product Designer

Very flexible — works on blanks, lets customers upload their own graphics, and gives you a full design file on the backend.

All three let you control your own production without forcing POD.

If any of these integration feel hectic, drop your store URL and what products you need customized (hoodies, tees, placement areas, etc.) I can point you to the cleanest setup and which app integrates best with your workflow.

Hi @Pentagraphix :raising_hands:

You absolutely don’t need a dropshipping-specific app for this — Easify Product Options has all the features you’re looking for without needing to integrate with any external printing or fulfillment services.

Here’s an example I’ve created so you can see how it works:

  • This is the result:

  • This is the app setting:

After customers have selected all the basic product attributes such as size, color, etc., you can continue to use Easify’s Upload File feature to allow customers to upload their images. They can choose any image from their device, and the app will display it immediately on the product page.

The highlight of Easify is Live Preview – a real-time preview right on the product page. You just need to go to Product Personalizer, turn on Enable Live Preview, and in case you’d like customers to adjust the position or size of the image, simply enable the additional options shown in the screenshot.

From then on, every action customers take – uploading photos, changing options or adjusting the layout – is immediately displayed on the product. By seeing the immediate results, customers can visualize the final product before placing an order, giving them more confidence and significantly increasing the order completion rate.

All images and edits made by the customer will be attached to the order, so you can easily download and use them for your in-store printing process. Easify does not integrate any dropshipping features, so it is completely suitable for the in-house printing model that you are running.

Setting up custom product options has never been easier! Easify works seamlessly and the team behind it provides excellent, responsive support.

Thank you for your answer and detailed info. I tried a couple of apps now and none of them seem to give us the functionality we need. Our range of tees and hoodies come in a wide range of colours and styles, which need to be integrated into the design tool. For example, if a customer chooses to customise our Amalfi Teal Oversized Sweater, images for the front, back, left and right side of this variant need to be what customers see in the design tool. If that makes sense? Will Easify support this?

Hello Pentagraphix,

I hope you are doing well. If you’re printing everything in-house and only need a tool that lets customers upload and position their artwork, you don’t need a dropshipping-focused solution. You can achieve this with a dedicated product customizer app like Inkybay - Product Personalizer.

Inkybay allows customers to design their products by adding text, graphics, uploading images, and adding their own artwork, names, and numbers etc. Customers can resize, rotate, and position their uploaded designs on the product. You can set up your preferred print area where you want customers to position the design.

Along with showing a live preview of the designed product, Inkybay also generates print-ready order files containing all product details and customer-uploaded design files. You can download the design files in your preferred formats, such as SVG/PDF or PNG/JPG.

Here you can see a demo:

No coding required and easy to set up. The best part is that Inkybay offers a free 21-day trial, so you can explore and see how it works for your product.
