Customer Account additional field not tracking info in customer account details - HELP!

PLEASE HELP! I hope this is the right place to post this inquiry as I havent found anything in the forums for a resolution. I needed to create an additional field for new customer accounts that are for entering their business names, and now when they enter the business name it doesn’t appear anywhere in the customer information for their account.

Do I know how to customize code? No, not even a little bit.

Did I find the customer account fields and its code to copy and paste the Last name code snippet and change it all to Business Name? Yep. I did that.

The information they entered into the Business Name Field I created isnt being tracked anywhere on their profiles, hence, panic mode.

The reason I am needing this information is for an event where I am allowing reps from businesses that are MLMs to attend, however I am allowing one rep per company only which is why I need these details tracked and ideally be able to find the information that they entered for those that already have.

Is there anyone who can help or have the know how to fix this? Im stuck and a little panicky about it!

Hey @justsugarcookie !

I am not sure how you currently have this set up, but unfortunately I know that Shopify doesn’t make it easy to collect custom data on the registration form.

If you want to try messing with the code yourself, you can try changing the input name of your field to name=“customer[note][Business-Name]” This method will store the name into the customer note, which isn’t able to searched or filtered by, but at least it would be recorded.
See example:

Another method would be to use an app such as our Helium Customer Fields app. This allows you to create a completely custom registration form and any custom data you collect would get stored as customer metafields. You can build your registration form and get it installed on your storefront all without needing to do any coding!
