I am new to Shopify (UK) and in the final stages of going live. I have been testing and found out that the customer does not receive a shipping confirmation. I then clicked on the Add tracking button and entered Royal Mail with no tracking. This also did not sent an email. I tried again and just put 0000000 in the tracking field and the system then sent an email.
Most of my products are sent via Royal Mail 2nd class large letter and are not tracked. How can I send these customers an email confirmation?
Any advice gratefully received.
The tracking number will only notify the customer if an actual sequence is filled in the tracking field/box and the name of the carrier.
since your store is owned and managed by you, you can use the PO of the order and “Mark As Ship”, also some Royal Mail comes with a bar code that has some sequences.
you can use our website for free to Mark As Ship" and also for all your order Management. This is how it works
For example, I have a client who drops ship using amazon, as you may already know most amazon logistic tracking and not public but he still uses it to notify the client that the order has been fulfilled. Actually, their client must really like it as they get hundreds of orders daily.
Alternatively, you can upgrade to Royal Mail Signed For® 2nd Class, which comes with :
- Online delivery confirmation
- Signature on delivery
- Aim to deliver in two to three working days, including Saturdays
- Compensation cover up to £50**

Many thanks for your reply. So I guess if you do not have tracking Shopify will not be able to send the customer an email confirmation the item(s) have been shipped. If this is correct it is a major flaw in their system.
@SRTDesignsLtd you know Shopify is an eCom site the idea is to notify the client of the carrier that was used for the shipping and the tracking sequence(Tracking number).
The most reasonable solution here is; since your store is owned and managed by you, you can use the PO of the order and “Mark As Ship”, also some Royal Mail comes with a bar code that has some sequences. or use your own sequences.
I do not think you understand my issue apart from trying to promote your solution.
