Customer filter - all customers who have bought a product or product variant

HI all,

Is there an easy way to get a list of customers who have bought a particular product?

We sell workshop tickets and need to easily find the attendees for each one. This may be a stand alone workshop or the workshops might have different available dates.

We need to be able to do this without having to be at a laptop and export a .csv.

I’ve seen historical posts but is there now a solution to this?

Thanks!!

Go to Customers → Segments and create a segment. Just type it into the Sidekick “Describe your segment” box. Something like “all customers who have purchased the hand warmer”. You can also use the Orders screen to filter the orders by product. Just depends on what kind of view you are trying to get.

Easy peasy. Learn the Admin a bit. Full of stuff.

Yeah, ive looked into both of these options but it all seems a bit clunky.

At the moment were using sumup, we export the data and then filter in excel. it works but I really need easier access to the data.

Thanks, I’ll see if I can find a reporting or event management app to use, I cant find anything that really fits as it stands.

Build the attendee list once

  • Customers > Segments > Create segment
  • In the “Describe your segment” box, type it in plain English, for example: customers who bought Autumn Pottery Workshop
  • Shopify AI turns that into a filter code and lists everyone who bought it. Give it a name and Save.

Open it on your phone, no CSV

  • Shopify app > Customers > Segments > tap your saved segment
  • The attendee list is right there. It updates itself as new tickets sell, so you never re-export.

One list per workshop date
Segments match at the product level, not the variant. If your dates are variants of one product, they all land in the same list.

  • For a separate list per date, set each date up as its own product, then make one segment each.
  • Or open Orders and filter by product (you can also filter by variant there) to see just those orders.

Thanks, yeah setting it up and then having access via a phone is a good shout, that element of it could work but we won’t want to set up a product for each date for a particular workshop.

You could probably create your own Attendees app, but I think Segments is going to be the easiest and smoothest you’re going to get without going custom or using an app that pulls the same data anyway. It’s a one and done. Simple verbiage. Easy to understand. One-click after creation. Auto-updates. A list of customers and not orders. Can get it from mobile app as duscussed above. One tap. Can’t get less clunky than that. I think you severely overlooked this, but you do you I guess.

If you’re looking for a native Shopify solution, you can filter Orders by product and then view the associated customers, but there isn’t currently a built-in, mobile-friendly way to generate a customer list for a specific product without exporting data.

For workshop tickets, you may want to look at event or booking apps that maintain attendee lists and make them easier to access on mobile. If you’re using standard Shopify products for tickets, another option is to tag orders or customers based on the workshop, so they’re easier to filter later.

It would definitely be useful if Shopify added a native “Customers who purchased this product” view that could be accessed from both the admin and the mobile app, especially for merchants managing events, classes, or workshops.
