We have had customers complaining this week that they cannot add anything to their shopping cart - it is not for one particular product either. We had a customer call about a specific shirt in a size large.. She could not get it to add to her cart, I could on my phone. We tried with another item.. I was able to add the size small to my cart, but could not the medium or the large.
I have had Shopify for over 8 years & am not doing anything differently as far as entering in inventory, etc.. Shopify says it’s something I am doing incorrectly but we have never had this issue before until last weekend. I have tried chatting with them & have gotten nowhere.. I am at a loss and am loosing so many online sales.
You’ll want to share a link to your site and provide specific examples, so that folks on the forum here can try to troubleshoot for you.
Based on the limited details you’ve shared, my first gut-reaction is that if you’re using a theme that’s 8 years old (never been updated to the most recent version) then that’s probably where your issue is. Upgrade to a new theme (or the newest version of your current theme), and see if the issues go away.
Thanks for reaching out here. I’m sorry to hear that your customers are experiencing issues with products and having trouble adding the right variants to their carts. This is definitely an issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
To begin troubleshooting, I suggest checking if the issue is stemming from the current theme you are using. In many cases, this problem can be caused by customized theme code or an app that might be interfering with the theme’s functionality. To determine if it’s a theme-related problem, I recommend installing a new version of the theme or trying out a different theme altogether. If the new theme doesn’t exhibit the same issue, it indicates that the current theme requires some revision.
Please perform this initial step and let me know what happens. Once we have this information, we can proceed with further troubleshooting if necessary.
