Customization of "Ride" Theme - Store/Product Grid/Filters

Using The Ride Theme. I have many products for resale, some 3rd party, some are services provided by people in person. Think Booking system like piano lessons, 30 min appointments.

Problem im running into is that “service” (real life person services), are showing up in the Product Grid “Collection” thats pre-set to be displayed on the STORE page. So when i view the store, where the products show up, its showing the things im selling (metronome for example), with the “book 30 min appoint” selection.

I have the following questions:

  1. Is there a way to “block” or “remove” categories or collections from the “show all products” that shows up with the Product Grid Selection? That way i can assign all services to a collection, then negate that from the search results on the shop page.

I tried using a collection instead, and the collection is limited to only viewing 20 items at any given time, and does not show pagination, nor does it show the filtering thats available with the Product Grid Selection.

I figure it would be easier to remove items via a collection from the product grid, rather than to “add” pagination and filtering to a collection. Is this correct? Anyone know how to do this the simplest way?

  1. Is there documentation on modifying filters? I saw where to “enable” filters from the home page of the admin section, but its very limited to existing checkboxes. Nothing more. cant control extent whats shown, nor how its displayed within the live stores menu.

I am interested in not only creative custom filters to display, but to be able to also modify layout/display on the site itself. (custom menu display).

Thank you in advance!

If you have many products > 1000 items with many tags or product information, you may want to try a filter app like this one https://apps.shopify.com/ultimate-search-and-filter-1.

To answer some of your questions if the above app is used:

  1. You can use Merchandising rules or Pinning feature in that app to merchandise your collections

  2. The Edit Filter modal lets you control everything in a filter.
