Our customer (from Belgium) experiences a lot of issues with their accountant. It seems that it’s not possible out-of-the-box to get a financial sales report with the numbers in the way they are expected by belgian accountancy legislation..
Every quarter, they need to be able to deliver a report with sales by payment date (not by sales date as the numbers are presented now), refunds, … and numbers by day by tax rate (they sell at 6% as well as at 21% and 0%) and totals.
We have now hired a developer to come with a solution, but we can’t believe that every company working with Shopify (webshop and POS) is doing this. Please advise.
@veronique_27labs, Shopify has a Net Payments Over Time report that runs only on payment date and includes several transaction-related fields, but it does not allow you to add sales-related fields.
If you want to generate a report based on the transaction date and include sales, transaction, tax, refund, and other fields, you can use apps like Report Pundit, where such a report can be created easily.
You’re right—Shopify’s built-in reports do not adhere to the Belgian GAAP. The majority of merchants deal with this by way of a custom export or by automating their workflow with tools such as Data Export Reports or Report Pundit, that allow you to group the data by payment date, tax rate, and refund status. These can turn out tax compliant quarterly reports with ease.
Hi, Our services might come in handy for you then. We prepare reports like that automatically based on your sales data. EAS EU & UK Compliance app. Have a look, send us an email and let’s see if we have everything you need.
Just wanted to drop a quick update: we eventually found a solution that meets the Belgian “dagontvangstenboek” requirements.
To stay within the community rules I won’t post all details publicly, but if you’re running into this too, feel free to message me, happy to share what worked for us.
