Data Migration from Network Solutions

Topic summary

A user is attempting to migrate from Network Solutions after 15+ years on their e-commerce platform but faces significant data export limitations. Network Solutions provides only minimal export functionality, capturing basic order data while omitting extensive product information and customer input details. Their technical support offers little assistance.

Key Challenge:

  • The primary obstacle is extracting comprehensive data from Network Solutions, not importing into the new platform
  • Standard export options are insufficient for capturing the full historical dataset
  • User seeks API access or alternative extraction methods

Responses:

  • One commenter suggests maintaining exported data as an external reference database rather than fully importing it, noting diminishing value over time
  • Another recommends exporting available data to CSV format and using migration tools like DataEase to handle mapping and transformation during Shopify import

Current Status:
The discussion remains open with no definitive solution for extracting complete data beyond Network Solutions’ limited native export capabilities.

I’m trying desperately to get off of Network Solutions, but our site has been hosted on their e-Commerce platform for over 15 years. So there’s a lot of history that needs to be transferred. I’m aware of many of the migration services available to help me import into Shopify, but I am stuck trying to get the data I need off of my old site in a usable format. Network Solutions data export is anemic at best, and their tech support is basically nonexistent.

Has only made this switch? Does anyone have any recommendations or strategies regarding customer/order/product data export beyond the pitiful export options provided by NS? I’d love to hear that there’s an API out there that will allow me to further customize my data export.

Many thanks for any and all information. I can provide more specific examples about the order and product data I’m trying to retrieve if anyone is interested.

what type of storefront software is Network Solutions using? You might just want to export it. I would not focus on importing it, might just be worth having an external database to compare to. in 12 months all the effort spent on importing the data will be of little value.

Network Solutions is a dinosaur of web hosting, and they have their own storefront software. The exporting is exactly my issue - the data export they offer is woefully short of everything. It exports the bare minimum of order data - leaving tons of product information and customer input behind. At the moment I’m not at all concerned about the import side of migration - I am just hoping someone here has come from Network Solutions and has some smart tips about extracting all my data from their platform.

You can export your essential data (orders, products, customers) from Network Solutions to CSV format, even though their export options are limited. Once you have those CSV files, you can import them into Shopify using a migration app like DataEase.

DataEase lets you map and transform your data during import so it ends up in the right format in Shopify.

If you run into any issues preparing or importing your files, feel free to reach out to the DataEase support team.

Happy to share more details if you need help figuring out which CSV exports to generate or how to configure the import mapping!
