Dawn How to change color of fixed navigation over certain elements

I am unfamiliar with jquery and am trying to make my navigation text change color after passing the hero image.

The navigation sits on top of the image and I need the text to be white until it scrolls past it, then I want it to be black.

Does anyone have code I can apply to the Dawn theme to do this?
