Dawn theme: Change color of single menu item (Appears to be highlighted or bolded)

Topic summary

A user is experiencing an issue with the Dawn Shopify theme where the “Home” menu item in the header appears bolded, highlighted, or brighter than other menu items on the homepage. On other pages, all menu items display with consistent coloring, which is the desired appearance.

Additional symptoms:

  • When hovering over “Home” on the homepage, it doesn’t change color like other menu items do
  • Other menu items correctly change color on hover

Attempted solution:
PageFly-Richard provided CSS code to be added to theme.liquid above the </head> tag, with instructions to modify the color value. However, the user reported this solution didn’t resolve the issue.

Current status:
The problem remains unresolved. Richard acknowledged the issue is “strange” and suggested the user needs to change the color value in the provided code to match their desired highlight color. The user is capable of editing code with proper instructions but needs clearer guidance on achieving consistent menu item styling across all pages.

Hello,

I am trying to make a change to the header portion of my website. If you go to the homepage, the word “Home” appears to be bolded/highlighted/brighter than the other menu items.

If you navigate to any of the other website pages on my site, you’ll see that the color of all menu items is the same. That’s what I’m trying to accomplish

I’ve attached photos showing the issue. The first photo is the homepage www.revitaspice.com

The second page is showing my FAQ page and there the menu items are colored correctly.

Hi @RevitaSpice

This is Richard from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App

Please add this code to your theme.liquid above the to get this solved

Step 1: Online Stores > Themes > More Actions > Edit code

Step 2: click on theme.liquid and paste the code above the

Please help me to change the value of the red color to any color that you want.

Hope this can help you solve the issue

Best regards,

Thanks, it sound’s like you are understanding my issue perfectly. I really don’t have the slightest clue on how to do this (unless it’s editing code, which I can do with instructions).

I saw another person’s post that solved the issue for that “HOME” word being underlined, I followed their suggestion and edited the code and it removed the line under “HOME”.

The color didn’t’t change though.

Hi,

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, this didn’t solve the problem for me.

If you go to the homepage header and hover over the menu item “HOME”, you’ll notice the color doesn’t change color, but if you hover over the other menu items, those items turn the same color as “HOME”. I’m just trying to make all menu items the same color.

It seems there’s an issue with the that menu item/button because it doesn’t change color like the other items in the menu when hovering over it.

Hope this clarifies my predicament.

It’s the Dawn Shopify theme. I purchased the domain from godaddy, but I’m not using Wordpress. All the edits I’ve done have come through the Shopify website builder, through the “Customize” link.

I think you might’ve gotten this reply mixed up with another post.
