Dawn Theme - does my 20 month old site need to be redone on a new theme?

I have been told I should upgrade my sites to a new theme. The current one is less than 2 years old and cost us a lot of money. I am loath to spend another $70k to redo the 2 sites so soon, but at the same time, I need my sites to be working 100%.

Can anyone have a look at my site and see what they think? www.BrollySheets.com.au This is our 5th site in 17 years. I no longer really believe web dev people who say what a difference a new site will make.

I am told that the Dawn theme is minimalist and simplistic. It doesn’t have many sections out of the box, doesn’t have much flexibility in the customise tool and is a clunky theme to dev on.

On top of this the development team that build the site didn’t improve the overall UX and their designs are poor. It wouldn’t be as bad if the dev team used it as a base, did great designs, build custom sections with loads of control for you to change things in the customise tool.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Diane

Hi @Brolly_Sheets ,

I’m Kate from PageFly - Shopify Landing Page Builder.

First of all I would say I’m impressed by the elegant & majestic design of your website. It’s clear that you’ve put a lot of thought and effort into creating a great online presence. Meanwhile, from my expertise, I would like to offer some suggestions to help you improve it & grow your online business better.

1. Invest more on the content for the hero banner

From my point of view, the heading & Call to action button should be more straight to the point which allows shoppers to realize what you are offering & what action you want them to take when they first land on your site. Currently I found it quite hard for visitors to figure it all out. Consider changing the heading content, add a subheading to describe more & change the CTA button also, such as Shop For Kids, Explore more, etc.

2. Add “Load more” option to increase converting point

I suggest adding a Load more button to your Feature products section to allow shoppers to view additional products from your first showcase. This would help reduce bounce rate as they can continue to explore other options, so ignite engagement & allow more chances of converting your visitors.

3. Make the price information more visible

Shoppers often visit e-commerce websites with the primary intent of finding and comparing prices. You should set it bold or use another color to make the price information more noticeable. It will meet shoppers’ expectations and help them make informed decisions quickly.

You can take this image as reference:

4. Add Return Policy & Delivery date on product page

You should make the Return Policy with a direct link & show the estimated delivery date in the main content of the product page, either as a link in the “Buy” section or as a product page section, to minimize the time users spend locating it.

Also, note that you should show the estimated shipping date right on the product page as well. It allows customers to choose products based on their urgency or timeline, which can lead to more informed and confident buying choices.

5. Don’t miss out on the Holiday season to boost sales!

Get the best out of the holiday season, like upcoming Christmas to increase your sales.

  • Create a Christmas-themed landing page which highlights exclusive deals and provides a cohesive holiday experience for visitors.

This landing page should use Christmas-themed graphics & banners. I suggest you could consider these options to create your own unique landing page.

  • App: You can use apps like Shogun Page Builder, PageFly, Gempages… to easily create and customize banners and sections with lively & beautiful graphics for the Christmas holiday.
  • Free Source: For free holiday graphics and banners, websites like Freepik and Canva offer a wide range of templates and illustrations you can use.
  • Add countdown timer to the most noticeable spot on your website (ex: Announcement bar, Pop-up, etc) to create a sense of urgency and drive conversions.

That’s all of my feedback. Hope it will help you grow your business better. Feel free to reach me in the reply section if you need further discussions. Wish you luck and endurance on your entrepreneurship journey!

Cheers,

Kate | PageFly Team
