Dawn Theme Password + Email Subscription page

Hello.
How do I create / design a password + Email Subscription page in “Dawn” Theme. I want to have both options on the front page so customers with a password can log in and those who haven’t subscribed yet can subscribe and receive a password.

Hi, @TeteTurner . I’m happy to help you out with this! It’s a great decision to include both options for your customers. Have you already considered what your email strategy will be to make the most of your subscriber list? This guide has some great tips to start if you’re interested.

Using Dawn, you can customize your password page using the sections and blocks in your theme editor. To get there go to Online store > Themes > Customize. From here, you’ll need to select your Password page template, which can be found by first clicking Others in the template dropdown menu. This will open the settings to customize your password page.

Dawn’s password page should already include both an email sign up and password option by default. I’ve included a screenshot below to show how this looks. If you’re not seeing this, you can edit the template using the available sections and blocks. This guide has more information on how to use sections and blocks.

Dawn’s default password page layout:

Once your customers click Enter using password, they will then see the page that looks similar to the first screenshot you shared.

You can make sure that your password page is enabled on your shop by going to Online store > Preferences in your Shopify admin. If the setting Restrict access to visitors with the password is checked, your customers will see your password page when they visit your website. You can also find the steps to enable your password page here.

Hi Erin.
Thank you for your quick reply.

I would like to have all on the front page so the customer does not have to click on “Entering Password” and then be redirected to the password page.

It should all be on the first page once a customer goes on our online shop.
And both options should be centered on the first page and not “Entering Password” in the header and “Email Subscription” in the center.
I hope you can understand what I mean.

We want it exactly like in the screen shot attached. See attached.

Thank you for your help!

Hi, @TeteTurner . Thanks for your reply!

The password page is the first page you see when you visit your storefront so as long as password protection is enabled, your customers will see the password page first. They will just need to click Enter password to enter the password.

The position of the “Enter password” button will depend on the theme you’re using. Dawn doesn’t have an option to re-position this button using your theme editor, but you can still customize this page further by editing your theme code. The steps to access your code editor can be found here.

If you’re not comfortable coding on your own you can hire a Shopify expert to assist you. Shopify experts are trusted, third-party agencies and freelancers who offer services for Shopify merchants, including help customizing themes. You can hire a Shopify expert on this page and you can learn more about them here.

Hi Erin.

Thanks for the reply.
Is there a Theme that has the “Enter Password” and “Email Subscription” field in the center that you can recommend. Unfortunately it is not visible in the theme previous.

What would a Shopify expert cost?

Thank you.

Hi, @TeteTurner .

I’ve checked all of the themes created by Shopify and they all display the “Enter password” and “Email subscription” fields in the same area. I won’t have more information on third party themes. That being said, you should be able to add themes to your Shopify admin before you purchase them by using the theme trial. You wouldn’t be able to publish the theme until you’ve purchased it, but this will allow you to test the theme editor settings and see the layout of the pages. You can add a theme to your Shopify admin by clicking Try theme on the theme’s listing in the theme store.

The cost to pay for a Shopify expert will depend on the expert you choose and the type of work you need help with. You can browse the available experts and the services available by clicking Find an expert on this page. There is also the option to select a low, mid, or high priced expert when creating a job proposal. You can do this by clicking Create a job on the same Shopify experts page. When submitting a job proposal, I recommend providing as much context as possible, including your price range, so that you get matched with an expert that is best for you.
