Debit Card Option Not Showing in Checkout (Stripe UAE Integration)

Hi everyone,

I’ve integrated Stripe for my Shopify store, which is registered in the UAE and ships only within the UAE. However, during checkout, the payment section only shows a “Credit Card” option — not a separate “Debit Card” option.

I want to confirm:

Will UAE customers still be able to pay using their Visa/Mastercard debit cards, even if Shopify only displays “Credit Card”?

Or
Is there any way to make “Debit Card” appear as its own option in the checkout?.

Is there any way to change the name from credit card to something like Card or Credit/Debit Card

Just to clarify how it works — even if your Shopify checkout only displays “Credit Card”, your UAE customers can still pay with their Visa/Mastercard debit cards without any issue. Since you’re using Stripe, both credit and debit cards are supported automatically. The label doesn’t restrict the type of card they can use.

As for displaying a separate “Debit Card” option, Shopify doesn’t allow that. Credit vs. debit isn’t split into two payment methods in the checkout, so Shopify will always group them together.

However, you can change the wording so it’s clearer for your customers. If you need the checkout to say “Credit/Debit Card” or simply “Card”, you can edit the text through the theme’s language settings:

Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content → Search “credit card” → Update the label.

This changes only the wording, but customers will immediately understand they can use their debit cards.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any aid on this, I’ll gladly aid.
