Debut Theme - Replace Default Products with Custom Message When Collection is Empty

Hello,

I have created a very simple site to capture wholesale orders (https://consciousglassvt.com/). We only accept orders for certain products during certain days and times. Instead of showing the default or “onboarding” products when a collection is empty, I would like to share a message such as “Ordering for Draft Beer is closed until _____, please email ______ with any special requests.”

I have tried to following two solutions to no avail:

  1. Tried following these instructions for the ‘list-collections-template.liquid’ file. Did not hide default products or the collection.

  2. Tried editing the ‘collection-template.liquid’ file and had no success either?
