Hello,
A clients store is seeing a concerning trend that is impacting overall growth/revenue.
This year, with all other elements/UX/UI , traffic sources, blend of mobile vs desktop users, etc held static - we’ve seen a decline in the number of sessions that “converted” after “reached checkout.” Historically, 80% of sessions that “reached checkout” would convert (held steady for 1.5 years until 2022). The % converting after reaching checkout has steadily declined to less than 50%. And it continues to decline! In other words, according to how I understand Shopify reporting, 8/10 people used to complete checkout after getting to checkout page, but now we’re at almost only 4/10 people completing checkout. Help!?
The weird part is, this decline has been steady and gradual (not like the result of a sudden change or anything). Nobody can figure out what is going on. We have Shopify Advanced (not Plus) - can only record user journey up until the final cart checkout page. Cannot edit checkout page.liquid file.
See link to this excel data set from Shopify, really clarifies what I’m describing:
