We sell software on our store that is delivered electronically at the completion of the checkout process. These Products don’t have “This is a physical product” checked in the Shipping section under Product Setup. As a result, the Customer is not prompted to enter a Shipping Address. However, we are required to collect tax in some States for the digital software products and we use the Avalara Avatax integration on Shopify. We are seeing inconsistent results in the tax calculations and upon further investigation with Avalara learned that they use Shipping Address within their tax algorithms. We contacted Shopify Plus support to find out how we can default the Shipping Address to the Billing Address, but Shopify doesn’t current have this functionality (only the opposite at this time).
Does anyone know of another way that we would be able to default the Shipping Address to the Billing Address that the Customer enters during the checkout process?
