Delivery Date Queries

I have a client who is a florist and wants to set up an online shop on her website. Everything she does is bespoke so she has to manage her workload very carefully. My question is a two-parter. Firstly, She wants her customers to have the ability to set a requested delivery date but with the ability to deny certain dates e.g. Sundays, holidays etc. Secondly, She also wants the system to prevent further orders being taken once a certain number of orders have been requested for a specific delivery date. Can both of these aims be achieved with Shopify?

Thanks in Advance

Customer-Selected Delivery Date with Restricted Days: Shopify offers different applications and customization that enables customers to choose a delivery date during the checkout process. There are some Shopify apps such as “Order Delivery Date” or “Zapiet,” which allows you to set unavailable dates wherein you do not want to deliver. Simply set up these apps to automatically block Sundays or holidays or dates which you may not want to happen.

Shopify does not support it by default, but again the same apps like “Zapiet” or “Order Delivery Date & Pickup” offer it- limit the no. of deliveries per date in such a manner that once a specific no of orders are booked for a particular date, that date would be unavailability to others hence we can easily manage our workload.

:cherry_blossom: Yes—Both goals can be achieved using Birdchime’s features:

1. Preventing bookings on unwanted dates (Sundays, holidays, etc.)

The app lets you block specific dates or entire days of the week from the calendar—ideal for disabling Sundays or holidays. You can:

  • Use blocked dates to exclude individual dates.

  • Under Configure Availability Settings, disable full days like Sundays in your delivery/pickup schedule.

This ensures customers cannot select those dates during checkout.

2. Limiting the number of orders per date or time

Birdchime supports order limits per day or per time range, which is perfect for managing bespoke workflows. You can:

  • Set a maximum number of orders per day, or even configure limits for specific time ranges.

  • Once the limit is reached, the date (or time range) becomes unavailable to customers—business logic enforced seamlessly.

:bullseye: Additional helpful features- Order preparation/cut‑off time: you can require a lead time (e.g. 1–2 days) so the app blocks immediate dates.

  • Calendar visibility control: the “Max Available Days” setting lets you define how far ahead customers can book.

Implementation recap

Requirement Birdchime Feature
Block Sundays/holidays Block-out dates & disable specific weekdays
Stop accepting bookings after X orders Order limit per date/time
Control lead time Preparation/cut-off time
Manage booking window Max Available Days setting

In summary: Birdchime combines blocked dates, order‑limit controls, and lead‑time logic into one app. It’s an ideal solution for any florist needing bespoke delivery scheduling while avoiding overbooking. Your client can:

  1. Define which dates are disallowed.

  2. Set a cap on orders per day or time.

  3. Control how far in advance customers can book.

That gives her full control and smoother operations. Hope this helps—and happy floristry!
