so basically a couple of my product descriptions and pictures are the same. Even if I have them in two separate links once I edit one the other changes simultaneously. can anyone please help me?

Can you share your store URL
Do not go inside the template to edit the product, as the product template is applied to so the product.
If you need different images or copy for different products, you can find that product in the back office and put your product details inside the product details.

I think the reason is you are using the same template for all product, in this case you can try to create separate template for each product.
