Details to remove if I Sell my shopify store

Aside from the payment details, what do I have to remove if I decide to sell my shop? What other considerations do I need to know before selling it? ( like use of domain, social media accounts, business address, payment methods, etc.)

Hey @letslovelive ,

Great question!

If you decide to sell your Shopify store, there are a few things you should consider:

  1. Payment details: You will need to remove any payment gateways or methods that are linked to your personal details, such as credit card processors or PayPal.

  2. Domain: If you are using a custom domain for your store, you will need to transfer ownership of the domain to the new owner.

  3. Social media accounts: If you are using social media to promote your store, you will need to transfer ownership of the accounts to the new owner or delete them.

  4. Business address: If you are using a physical address for your store, you will need to remove it or update it to reflect the new owner’s information.

  5. Customer data: You will need to consider what to do with any customer data, such as names and email addresses, that you have collected. You will need to either delete this information or transfer it to the new owner.

  6. Shipping and fulfillment: If you are using a fulfillment service, you will need to cancel your account or transfer ownership to the new owner.

  7. Email list: If you have an email list for marketing purposes, you will need to decide whether to provide the list to the new owner, keep it for yourself or delete it.

It’s important to carefully consider these and any other relevant details when selling a Shopify store. It’s also a good idea to seek the advice of a lawyer or other legal professional to ensure that the sale is handled properly.
