Developer theme license expired

I hired a developer to create my store. She said she"ll buy the theme and set up my store. That was last year. When I tried to edit the site recently, I had trouble editing the site and asked for assistance from Shopify. Shopify mentioned that my theme was from a 3rd party, Out SIDE SAND BOX. I have Turbo and I will have to contact them directly. I realized that I needed the purchase info in order to get support. I didn’t have purchase order or email she used to purchase. I think Shopify is clear about sharing all these info with the buyer.

I have been trying to get the purchase invoice from her for over a week and I have not yet received anything and she has given me all the excuses in the world to avoid me having this info. After many attempts, I got below message from her.

My question is, have anyone else experienced this issue and is this legal? Does Shopify allow developers to create many stores with a license theme? If that is the case the buyer should be aware of the expiry date for the license and agree to it in writing. Any feedback is appreciated.

I highly advise everyone to make sure the theme is purchased for your store only since there is unlimited support and no expiry date in addition to the purchase order info. This will help you with tons of issues I had to go through to update my site without having to hire the person who created the site.

WATCH OUT for this developer and spread the word Phoebe Johnson. She is creating many stores with the same license. Doesn’t want to share any purchase order info or wasn’t helpful at all. I am concern that many of her clients have no idea that she is doing this. I definitely I wasn’t aware that I will have issues with license after a year. These people are screwing people. So WATCH OUT! I am also looking into legal aspect of this practice. She is from F---- freelancer there, so what are the rules on this in F---- and Shopify. Her work is not that good. I had to hire another person to update my site.

She charged me $800 for the work when her profile said starting at $130 to create a site. You would think she spent money to buy the theme. No that also went to her pocket, $400 now but not sure how much it was last year. She is not available during weekends either. Very inconvenient. I am trying to let many people know about her and the developers doing this to store owners.
