Development of a Vendor-Specific Sales Reporting Feature

We’re looking to enhance our project with a reporting feature focused on sales data. Specifically, we need a solution that allows for the generation of sales reports filtered by product owner (referred to as the “label” in the intake sheet provided earlier) for a specified time period. The ideal outcome would be an online dashboard that displays these reports. We are thinking to make this via private app and rest API.

Key requirements include:

  1. Sales Reports by Vendor: The ability to create reports showing all items sold within a selected timeframe, exclusively displaying sales related to products owned by a specific vendor.

  2. Vendor-Specific Access: Each of our store’s vendors (currently 10) should have access to a private dashboard. This dashboard will only show sales data for their products, including the total wholesale price of items sold during the chosen period.

Could you confirm if such a feature is feasible to implement within our Shopify setup? Additionally, if possible, please provide an overview of what the development process might entail, including any potential challenges we might face.

Thank you for your guidance.

Hello @konzept ,

Looking into the future the best possible approach for reporting tasks is to extensively export as much data as possible from Shopify to something like a Google Data Studio and build reports and charts there. There are more solutions that are more simple than Data Studio but the approach is like I described. You can select any service that covers your needs for 2-3 years ahead and build the private Shopify app that exports everything to the mentioned service based on its requirements and the needed format.

If you need any assistance, please, let me know.

Best regards,
Anastasia

There are third-party reporting apps such a Better Reports or Report Toaster that will do this for you and save you a lot of time and money.
