Did anyone else notice that how the tags are displayed when adding has changed?

I am not sure if anyone else is running into this, but it’s made things difficult for me when adding tags to new products.

We use the Shopify shop to run a comic shop. Each week I create an import file for the new books and then add tags for the series titles on the products page in Shopify. Each title can have multiple variant covers, so I use the “Add Tags” feature when selecting multiple products at once. It adds tags to several products without me having to go into each one.

While I was in the middle of doing this last week, the list of tags to choose from changed from the tags being in alphabetical order to most commonly used. This had made this method of adding tags useless for this purpose. As you could imagine, trying to look up book titles is much much much easier in alphabetical order.

In addition to that, I noticed the tags box (on the individual product page) no longer searches for the tag as you type it in. Instead it displays the top 10 and then makes you go hunt for other ones by clicking the View All Tags button. The View All Tags option does have the ability to sort by Alphabetical and Most Popular, but the mass add feature doesn’t!

Shopify Support on Twitter did say it would be a good idea to have the alphabetical option for the above issue and said they would let Development know. I am still stuck in this though and it worked 2 weeks ago. So my questions at this time are…

  1. Why did this change in the first place?

  2. Is there a timeline for when this will be corrected?

Thank you!
