Did I lose all of my Google Ads data?

Hello,

My Google & Yotube app suddenly stopped syncing products with GMC. Google and Shopify said that everything looks fine.

So I had to reinstall the app which in turn sent another product feed to GMC. Products did not went through review, they were recognized by GMC.

Now I have to delete my old feed. A product with 200 conversions now has 0 metrics. Will this affect me ?

One LLM told me that conversion data is on account level so I am safe. What do you think? Also, my campaigns were focused on conversion value. Can I still run it? Or do I need to go maximize clicks or something, for the algoritm to learn again. (I got 85 conversions in the last 13 days, if it helps).

Thank you in advance!

Good news, the other LLM is right on the conversion data point. Google Ads conversion data is stored at the account level, not the feed or product level, so deleting the old feed won’t wipe your historical conversion data. You’re safe there.

On the campaign side though, here’s the nuance:

Your conversion value campaigns; you can absolutely keep running them. 85 conversions in 13 days is actually a solid signal and Google’s algorithm has enough recent data to continue optimizing without needing to reset to maximize clicks.

The general rule is Smart Bidding needs 30-50 conversions in a 30 day window to perform well; you’re close to that already so don’t panic and switch strategies. Switching to maximize clicks now would actually set you back further by resetting the learning phase unnecessarily.

What to watch for:

  • A short learning period of 1-2 weeks while Google reconciles the new feed is normal

  • Monitor your impression share and conversion rate closely during that window

  • If performance drops significantly after 2 weeks then consider a temporary maximize clicks phase

Reinstalling the app was the right call, the feed recognition without full review actually suggests Google matched your products cleanly to the existing catalog. That’s a good sign.

Just sit back and watch the algorithm settle before making any bidding changes

Thank you for your answear!

My new products have the same ID but different prefix. I tried everything to get the same prefix again. My old products had SHOPIFY_RO_ID and the new ones have SHOPIFY_ZZ_ID. (ID is the same)

Do you think there’s any chance that Google will “recognize” the products and use the data?

Thank you!

Unfortunately the prefix change is the tricky part here, Google treats SHOPIFY_RO_ID and SHOPIFY_ZZ_ID as completely different products even if the underlying ID is identical. So the historical per-product performance data won’t carry over automatically.

The good news is your account level conversion data is still intact as we discussed ,so your Smart Bidding campaigns can still draw from that signal.

A few things worth trying:

  • Check if there’s a way to force the original prefix back by reinstalling the original regional version of the Google channel app — the RO suffix suggests it may have been a region-specific install

  • Contact Shopify Support specifically asking why the feed prefix changed from RO to ZZ on reinstall — they may be able to restore it

  • If the prefix can’t be recovered, give it 2-3 weeks, Google’s algorithm is surprisingly good at relearning product performance when conversion volume is healthy like yours

Your 85 conversions in 13 days gives the algorithm enough fuel to relearn relatively quickly so don’t stress too much. The learning period will just be a little longer than usual.

Great, thank you again!

In the meantime I will ask 3rd party feed apps if there’s a possibility to change the feed label when using their apps.

I hope I can do something about it. It was going great and I have like 2.5 years worth of data and spent 50k. Not big numbers by any means but I m not a ads specialist or big company.
