My colleague was speaking to a Shopify customer rep who said to us:
“I visited your website and noticed your website is not loading properly. It is also giving me a notification that your domain is not fully secured. I looked within the public domain network who.is to look at your domain settings, and noticed that your CNAME-record is not correct”.
When I reviewed Shopify’s most recent help doc, it says the DNS records should be:
A record = 23.227.38.65
CNAME = shops.myshopify.com
However we’ve always had ours as:
A record = 23.227.38.32
CNAME = domainname.myshopify.com.
We have no issues or errors when visiting our website, and it’s been like this for 5+ years. We’re unsure what errors the rep is referring to. Were these DNS settings recently updated? Do I need to do anything about this?
