Dietary preferences Meta data question

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner encountered an issue where dietary restriction metadata (soy-free, gluten-friendly, etc.) displayed incorrectly on their Brooklyn-themed website. Products marked as safe to consume appeared crossed out, while restricted items did not.

Resolution:

  • The problem stemmed from the metadata input process automatically creating unwanted product variants for each dietary restriction
  • Removing these auto-generated variants resolved the display issue
  • The issue was active for only a couple of days before being fixed

The store owner successfully troubleshot and resolved the problem independently without requiring additional assistance.

I went through all of my products and adjusted the dietary restrictions which should mean the product is soy free, gluten friendly, etc, but when I look at the non my website all the options I want people to see as “safe to consume” shows crossed out, while options on the contrary are not. Why does my dietary restriction show as crossed out on my shopify website brooklyn design?

store is www.hooksrub.com. Check out any of the seasoning options. Thanks.

I think I fixed it. When I was trying to fill in all the metadata info, it seemed to create variants for each dietary restriction which I didn’t want to create. I was able to go in and remove those variants. Phew. Thankfully that was just a couple of days like that.
