Difference between Shopify Files and Assets for GIFs

Hey guys,

Is there any benefit to uploading GIFs in assets of a theme vs files in admin?

If you upload it as a theme asset will this offer any speed benefits so the GIFs load quicker for website users?

Or will it be the exact same load times?
