Difference between type & discount_type on discountNodes

In the documentation of the Admin GraphQL API under discountNodes > query it says you can query on type and discount_type. But nowhere is it stated what the accepted values are or even what field both values relate to. I tried some logical values for both, but found no answer. So my question is, what do both fields relate to? See link below for the documentation I refer to:

I’m getting results from my test store using the same discount_type values that are listed under codeDiscountNodes, but the docs do not have any type examples.

I have requested clearer examples internally, but you can also add feedback directly from the page’s “Was this section helpful?” section.
