I’ve been advised to use an app to give my wholesale and retail customers different pricing.
Is it possible to give wholesale and retail customers different shipping costs? For example, I have free shipping on retail orders over $100 but free shipping on wholesale orders doesn’t start until $300 due to lower margin. So is it possible to offer different free shipping levels depending on customer type?

This is an interesting question and a slightly complex one. Here’s why: Generally, we advise that you apply to use the Handshake channel to sell wholesale which is currently only available in the US. Alternatively, if you’re a Shopify Plus merchant you can add the wholesale channel to your store.
If you’re don’t meet either of these criteria, then selling wholesale becomes a little tricky. First of all, you would need duplicates of your retail products to sell wholesale as well.
You would then need to put your wholesale products into their own collections and then hide them behind an app like the Locksmith App which only allows the right customers to access them.
When it comes to shipping, for wholesale, you could create a shipping profile and add the wholesale products to that shipping zone:
Because the wholesale products and retail products are separate, the wholesale will therefore have their own collections, their own shipping profiles, and be hidden behind an app that only wholesale customers can access.
