Different Products as variants in shopify

Hi community,

i would like to know how it would be possible to link different products as variants on one product page like here: Königliches Hundeportrait AI - Personalisiertes Poster – MyHappyMoments.de

As you can see they sell Posters and canvas and only the variant number changes in the url. These should not be separate products. Or am i getting something wrong here?

I want to do the same but even if there are apps and infos here on the community i am not able to move forward.

Hoping for instructions.

Best wishes
Mario

Aside from the image uploader, your example is normal behavior. They are not separate products. They are just normal variants of the parent product. Each variant has a unique url. When changing variants, the url changes to reflect the selected variant.

If that’s different from what you want, and you do want separate products as variants, an app from the Shopify App Store can help with that.

Hi Mario,

To link separate products so they behave like variants on one product page, you can use our app LinkedOption. It’s designed specifically to connect independent products and make them appear as variants (for example, poster vs. canvas) without any coding.

Setup is simple—just link the products together and you’re done.

Best regards

Hi @SchnuffundHerz :raising_hands:

You can absolutely create a color selection interface just like the demo I shared—even if each color is a separate product in Shopify. With Easify Product Options, you can group those products together and display them on a single page as if they were simply color variants of one product, delivering a very smooth experience for customers.

Here’s an example I’ve created so you can see how it works:

  • This is the result:

  • This is the app setting:

First, create each product separately in Shopify as usual—for example, a white T-shirt, a black T-shirt, and a red T-shirt. Each product keeps its own images, pricing, and inventory, without needing to be combined into a single product with multiple variants.

Next, open the Easify Product Options app and create a new Option Set for the main product you want customers to visit. In this Option Set, create an option called Color, and choose any display style you prefer - Image Swatch, Color Swatch, or Button - depending on the look and feel you want for your store.

Next, add the options White, Black, and Red just like in the demo. When editing each color value, simply enable the URL feature and paste the corresponding product link (the white T-shirt link for White, the black T-shirt link for Black, and so on).

The app offers a smooth and user-friendly experience for all your customizable products. Plus, the Easify team is always available to lend a hand whenever you need it.

Hi @SchnuffundHerz you can create similar setup in two different ways.

  1. Create product and then create variants under it by using Shopify native variant system. But then you may experience problem of not being able to show only selected variant images. Which means if customer selects specific option they will se only relevant variant images. You will need an app like Rubik Variant Images to achieve this. For transparency I am developer and founder of the app. Disadvantage of this setup is not being able to display variant seperately in search engines and not being to list them separately on collection page.

  2. Your current setup where variants created as a separate products also a common setup. It has many SEO advantages and also you will be able to display variants seperately on collection page. But then to link separate products as variants you should use a “combined listings” apps. I can recommend you our app Rubik Combined Listings. I am founder of this app.
