Digital product variations and downloading of file

I am selling digital files (fonts) and I want the user to have the ability to select different licences.

Desktop

1 to 200 users

Webfont

10,000 - 2,000,000 impressions

App Licence

1-3 titles

E-doc

1 title-12 titles

Digital Ad

1000000-10000000 impressions

Trouble is that each variation needs a file to be uploaded, so if I have 200 variations I would have to upload the same file 200 times. The only difference is the licence, the product would be exactly the same.

This seems totally crazy to me. I’ve tried quite a few plugins that do the variations bit and price difference quite well, but don’t have the options for the digital delivery of just the one file. I hit the buffer of having to upload the same file hundreds of times or people buy the product and the download is missing as it creates the variations on the fly.

Does anyone know of an app that could handle this? Should I try and move away from the free digital downloads plugin?

Hi Simon Im having the exact same issue - stuck with how one could deliver the correct file when it seems all product variant apps create randomized variant names that dont seem to work with file delivery apps. Did you ever solve this or come up with an alternative approach?

Hi Simon!

My product Alva Digital Downloads should solve this for you. Once you have uploaded the file (the once!) you can attach it as many times as you would like to unlimited variants without having to reupload for each. We also have a free plan with 1.5 Gb storage which should be sufficient.
