I am attempting to sell iPhone wallpapers through the Shopify Digital Downloads app, and the link to the files from the confirmation email after the order works perfectly fine on computer, but on mobile, it says “too many HTTP redirects” on Google and “Load cannot follow more than 20 redirections” on safari, and I’ve tried clearing the phone’s cache as well. I haven’t found a way to troubleshoot this and I’ve tried multiple things with no results. How should I fix this?
That redirect loop usually happens with Shopify’s Digital Downloads app when the mobile browser tries to follow the temporary file link. Clearing cache won’t solve it, the quick workaround is testing with a direct file host instead of relying on the auto-generated link. But the real fix is adjusting how the download URLs are generated so they don’t create endless redirects on mobile.
Have you ever tried checking if the way Shopify generates those temporary links is what’s actually causing the loop?
I have looked to see if I could change the URL and find my own way to transfer the downloads, but the link is a non-editable part of the app, at least that’s what I have found for the auto fulfillment. What advice would you have for changing how the app generates the links? I had the same issue using another app as well, so I was thinking that it might be a file or product issue, but I tried making a new product from scratch and including the same files, and it was still having the same issue with both apps. Could it be the connection from the apps back to the site domain itself, or what are your thoughts about that?
