I feel totally nuts.
In the past, we NEVER had discounts applying at the cart level. Even if someone visited our website via a discount link, the discount code would only show up at the checkout level.
I launch our Black Friday sale last night at midnight and boom, cart level discounts now exist.
This would have been great, except I had free cart gifts set up for different cart SUBTOTAL thresholds and those thresholds were based on the assumption that someone would be getting a 20% discount on the checkout page, NOT the cart page.
Is this a new feature? Where did this come from? What “node” is this connected to? We’ve done 3 sitewide sales this year and this is the first time I’ve seen this.
At first, I thought is was a theme thing, but I viewed my site using a fresh download of the Dawn theme (we use Prestige normally) and this is happening on the Dawn theme too so it’s not tied to our theme code.
Shopify has been randomly rolling out all sorts of changes to Discounts lately so I assume this is part of that?
Is there a way to turn this off? Or at least add a field to manually apply a coupon code? It’s messed up that it’s only being applied via discount links and you don’t have a way to add a code or remove this link-applied code until you navigate to the checkout screen.
