Discount code for x amount off shipping

Hello Shopify community,

I am looking for a solution where a shipping discount code can be applied to discount the cost of shipping at checkout. For example, use code XYZ and receive $B amount off shipping.
Currently, Shopify discounts only allow you to create a free shipping code. The only other option is to provide an “amount off order” code, however this is far less than ideal.
I’m comfortable with script, so any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I think this is the right way to do it if you want to offer amount of shipping to your customers.

Or am I missing something? Wouldn’t the outcome of what you’re describing be the same?
