Hi,
I just realized that my 10% off discount promotion was taking 10% off each item purchased in one order off my site, instead of than off the entire order.
I went into my discounts to correct this thinking it was my error and noticed that the option when creating discounts only states “off all products”. When looking for a solution on youtube the videos created prior to 2020 show the option “off entire order” when creating a discount code. Is this option now obsolete? Is there a possible work around. I dont understand why would shopify would remove the ability for the user to create a discount for entire order, glad I caught this with my 10% not my 15% there is no way that I could eat that revenue loss.
Thanks in advance!
At the moment Shopify does not have a feature to tie a discount to a total order or total cart value.
Hi Cosmichealing,
I am not sure if I understand it correctly, wouldn’t discounting 10% of the total orders value same as discounting 10% each of the items?
90% x (item A + item B + item C) = (90% x item A + 90% x item B + 90% x item C)
Do you mean to create a discount code that only apply 10% discount to only one item in the order?
To clarify, I need a code that takes 10% the total price of the order not each individual item from the order. I know this was possible as stated above the youtubers that have showed their shopify store BEFORE 2021 show this option (see screen shot below). When I followed these instructions on creating discount codes it is not available instead it says “all products” (again see attachment below).
The interface has been reworked. You can apply a percentage discount to the total only when creating Draft Order, or to an Order already created.
Anyway, the discount do not apply to shipping, if this is what you are looking to implement.
No, you are not understanding.
When I did that my code took 10% off of each item ordered instead of the total order. For example customer ordered 3x item at $6.99 with code each item came out to $3.66 instead of (1 - .10) x $6 = $5.40 final price
If you explain in details what are you trying to achieve we could suggest you how to achieve that.
