Display Pinned/Unpinned Meta Definitions and Meta Fields in Blog Post Editor

I have added a metafield definition for blog posts (singular) to the Admin > Settings > Metafields > Add Definition. It appears as such:

As you can see, it is “Pinned.” When editing the actual article itself, the meta definition requires me to select “Show All” and actually provide the meta field on a separate page, rather than being able to edit the metafield directly within the post editor. This is what I see when editing the post:

And then I have to click “Show All” which takes me to a separate page to edit the meta fields for this post like so:

Is this intentional or am I doing something incorrect? My understanding is that when you add metafield definitions according to Shopify Docs and “Pin” them, the meta field definition and field values should appear all within the module at the bottom like so:

Pinning/unpinning works fine if I add custom metafields to products and it appears like the example above. Is this a limitation of metafields for blog posts?

My worry is my content editors will not be as intuitive to click on “Show All” for metafields when the interface would cleary be more helpful if the “Pinned” metafield definitions appeared. Please advise. Thanks!

I’m running into the same issue.

I have the same issue. I do hope Shopify devs have this on their radar to fix. I’m guessing it may be related to the fact that technically the Online Store is a separate app (running in it’s own iframe) while the metafields are core functionality of Shopify. Maybe the separate page was necessary (hopefully temporarily) to link out from the app iframe back into the main store admin so that the metafield editors could be used.

Any updates on this @Shopify_77 ? We’ve got the same issue, and it is putting an extra step into the UX of the client. Hope you get to look into it soon, Cheers.

Such a basic limitation, we can order pinned items, not unpinned.
