Hi guys,
I run an online swimwear store from the UK, and after Brexit, we paused our European shipping as lots of orders were being refused at delivery due to customs charges - it meant we were incurring huge return shipping fees with DHL and losing money on these orders. We’ve had a huge amount of demand to restart European shipping but I don’t particularly want to send orders via DDP (i.e. collect the tax at checkout).
Does anyone know if there is a way of including an extra page on checkout for customers in certain countries (e.g. in Europe), to display the approximate amount of customs they will have to pay on delivery… And then giving them an option of ‘are you sure you want to continue’ type thing?
Appreciate it’s quite a niche request, but I’m sure there must be other UK retailers who have encountered the same issue? I have looked into IOSS, but as our average basket size is often above the EUR150 threshold for IOSS, we would still encounter the same issues… And we are not quite big enough yet to register for VAT in lots of individual countries.
Any help/advice much appreciated!
Charlotte
