Displaying the actual Checkout Currency in reports

Topic summary

A Shopify merchant with a CAD primary market and multiple active currencies is struggling with report limitations. The “Sales by checkout currency” report shows which currency customers used (CAD/USD/GBP, etc.) but converts all amounts to CAD rather than displaying the actual checkout amount in the original currency.

Core Issue:

  • This creates reconciliation difficulties, particularly for payment processors like PayPal that settle in the customer’s original currency
  • Currently requires manually checking individual orders to record actual amounts paid

Status:

  • The original poster views this as a critical missing feature given Shopify’s multi-market capabilities
  • A second user has the same need but no solution has been identified
  • The discussion remains unresolved with no workarounds or official responses provided

Looking for a way to have reports show the checkout currency value in the actual currency the customer paid. My store’s primary market is CAD, but I have multiple markets/currencies active. Displaying all of the sales in CAD makes account reconciliation quite difficult especially for payment methods like Paypal.

For example: My “Sales by checkout currency” report will show me what currency the customers paid in (CAD/USD/GBP/etc) but then will only state what the sales amount is in CAD. I would have to go into each sale individually and manually record the amount paid in their local currency.

Any solutions? With the new multiple market feature it seems like this is quite an important reporting feature that is missing.

Did you ever figure this out? I would like a report like this too! Thanks!
