I am trying to transfer my domain from Squarespace to Shopify.

1st) I’m getting an error “A and CNAME entered incorrectly”

Current values are [empty]

This is likely because I went into Squarespace to delete the old CNAME and A RECORD to initiate the transfer.

My problem is that when I try to add the updated values into Squarespace,

CNAME: shops.myshopify.com

and

A RECORD: 23.227.38.65

I get another error message -

“DNS RECORD CONFLICT
There are conflicting CNAME records present in your configuration.”

What am I doing wrong?
Is it simply that I’m currently just in that 24-48 range before it validates, or am I missing something?

Domain transfers can take up to 20 days to complete. 10 days for a successful transfer, 20 days if it has failed. You can point the domain to Shopify in the meantime using the correct DNS records.

DNS changes can take up to 48 hours once applied. If you’re getting an error that you have conflicting DNS records, then I would suggest contacting Squarespace for further assistance as they are your domain manager until the domain transfers to Shopify.
