DNS Settings multiple A records with same name

Hi, when setting up Google Cloud App Engine for subdomain, they are asking to update DNS with 4 A records and 4 AAAA records, all pointing to different IPs. The guide I’m following is telling me to enter identical info in the “Name” section in Shopify, but it seems to only work once. It doesn’t work even when it’s a different IP address with the same “Name”.

I’ve tried searching around the web to see if this is always the case, and I’m seeing some conflicting information which leaves me confused. Not entirely sure what to do. Is it normal to use “subdomain1”, “subdomain2” etc?

Thanks!

DNS is incredibly flexible. One of the things that it allows you to do is enable load balancing and/or redundancy by creating multiple DNS records with the same name and record type. For example, you could create two A records for your company’s domain name to perform round robin load balancing between two web servers. GoMedicare Benefits Help Centre
