Does Anyone know which bot this is?

Very much disagree. Why would Amazon check pricing directly in checkout, populating fake accounts and abandoning checkouts?

house number 43 is AMAZON bots checking your pricing. Use Negate Bot Protection shopify app.

This is disgusting behaviour on the part of Amazon in my opinion.

How do you know it is Amazon bots? Just a feeling or do you have proof?

I’m fairly confident this is Amazon’s price matching bot as well. Our brand sells certain products on both platforms - and coincidentally those which are sold on Amazon are the ones it’s targeting.

Just to echo everyone here we are getting a lot of traffic from this bot.

It hit us when our abandoned checkout email started bouncing at 70%+

Just to add to the investigation, we are also seeing similar behavior coming from a new address as well: “23, Scottsdale, Happytown” (still in the Bellevue, WA region though) as well as the original “House Number 43, Gray Colony”.

It’s really discouraging that Shopify doesn’t seem to think it’s their problem/in their interest to help fix…

Negate Bot protection helped but did not solve the problem.

The app did catch bots, but we are still getting a huge number of abandoned checkouts from that same address

“Pro” maxes out at 250,000 API calls, which took about 15 days for us.

We let the app max out and stop working and we have noticed any difference.

Negate Bot protection app is not a solution for us.

Yes this bot is completely out of control in our store. We are getting 400 - 500 abandoned carts a day! None of the third party apps have done anything to stop it. The only thing that is “working” is creating a flow to delete the customer emails - but they are also clogging up Klaviyo which we had to create a separate flow for.

I do hope Shopify can address this.

Same, we have had Negate turned on the past few days and are still getting 400 - 500 abandoned carts a day!

Just curious, does your Shopify store sell the same products on Amazon? I have a suspicion this is the Amazon price checker bot as it is only putting the products we sell on Amazon into the cart.

We do not sell directly on Amazon, but some of our products are listed on Amazon by others.

The products targeted in my store are not on Amazon and some most products are not active. They have been archived for over a year.

Shopify isn’t going to help us, or do anything about this. I opened a formal report to them and was told they wouldn’t’ be addressing the issue.

Same situation for us, hundreds of abandoned carts a day, third party apps not a solution.

I also created the Flows to remove the accounts on both Shopify and Klaviyo.

Our Analytics are all messed up because of this bot.

At this point I am just contacting Shopify about the issue over and over, almost daily, hoping that my constantly costing them support time will prompt them to do something about the problem.

We do not sell directly on Amazon but some of our products are listed on Amazon by others.

As we are seeing many abandoned carts, with IP originating from different countries which means they are using a VPN to hit the site, I am wondering if everyone here is offering a discount code for abandoned cart recovery?

We are a seller on amazon with a large catalog, and we are also a vendor to amazon. We have been getting price reduction requests from amazon for years, but this abandoned cart, and also customer signup from “House number 43” is fairly new, less than a year.

So wondering if this may be a coupon site trying to get new codes for each client signing up.

To confirm, we do offer code to abandoned cart through Klaviyo, so that may be our issue.

We are not on Amazon, do not have abandoned cart recovery enabled and do not have any active codes other than a dynamic single use discount codes for email signup. I have tried a few apps that block vpn connections and they did nothing to stop this bot.

Just passing on what Shopify sent me about the issue:

This is Dominique again from Plus Team! Following up on our recent conversation regarding the high number of abandoned checkouts associated with the specific address in Bellevue, Washington, I wanted to share some additional insights from our support developers.

It appears that resolving this issue may require a more in-depth approach, focusing on optimizing interactions between the Shopify core and third-party apps. Here are a couple of recommendations:

  1. Testing Bot Protection Apps: We suggest temporarily removing all bot protection apps to see if that has any impact on the number of abandoned checkouts. This could help us identify whether the issue is exacerbated by the existing app configurations.

  2. Engaging Specialized Help: Given the complexity of the situation, you might find valuable assistance within the Shopify Partners community. They have skilled professionals who can offer specialized optimization services that may address your needs. You can explore potential partners here: Shopify Partner Directory.

Have a good one!

We have tried many Bot protection apps, they do not stop the Bots.

I have removed all Bot protection apps and Zero impact.

I re-installed each bot protection one-at-a-time, Zero impact

Filtering all VPN or other masking had Zero impact.

Bot protection apps are focused on checkout fraud and content protection.

This Bot does not try to checkout or input any payment information.

Because the Bot does not try any sort of fraudulent purchase the Apps do nothing.

Just chiming in here - manager of six stores, heavily affected by this bot in three of them. I suspect coupon sites as we’ve got some old coupons hanging out there as well as a flow in a welcome series that sends them out. I tried Negate Bot and Blockify with no results other than some decent data. I’ve resorted to adding filters based on the known criteria to our flows in Klaviyo and a flow to delete them in Shopify. I’m also working on filtering them out of our analytics in Looker Studio because they are making our conversion rates look bad. Would be awesome for Shopify to address this.

I recognized that these bots dont put a first and last name (just email) in Klaviyo and I was able to filter them there. Could you tell me your flow on Shopify that deletes them? thank you.

Joe, if only 3 out of 6 of your stores are affected by this, can you see
any differences on the set of the stores affected vs the ones that are
not?

DannyL, I run a few stores and the one that the bot is hitting has Housewares, Home decor.

The other sites are unaffected.
