Does changing my store name in settings risk losing the original name?

Hello, I was wondering, when I change the name of my store in settings, does that mean I lose the other store name if someone picks it up? I’m thinking about opening a practice store just to get things rolling and then if I am successful, I wanted to open up the store under the correct name that I prefer to use. I have two totally different ideas, but I don’t want to lose the name I originally had. Do I already “own” that name since i signed up with Shopify using that name?

The store name is non-reservable, you can change your store name anytime.
But keep in mind, you won’t be allowed to change your Shopify sub-domain (examplestorename.myshopify.com), it always stays the same.
