Does changing primary URL affect product listings and contact pages?

Hello -

we migrating from one URL to a completely different one…

when I change the primary url in my store account and theme that is already running - does shopify automatically change things like my product listings, contact pages etc etc to show the new primary url and then any “/” appendages…

example:

our current them is running the site as

oldURL.com/pages/contact-us

and then we switch the primary url to “newURL.com”

will shopify change our existing contact page to “newurl.com”. and then display the content that was listed on the old site ??

we do not want to do any 301 redirects - the old site has negative search equity and we are starting over

same thing with a product - the current url is something like:

https://www.oldURL/collections/panties/products/simone-perele-wish-tanga-thong?variant=42514752798946

if we change the primary URL would it change to

https://www.newURL/collections/panties/products/simone-perele-wish-tanga-thong?variant=42514752798946. ???

301 redirects are used when we have to redirect customers from old path to new excluding the domain.

for example if a customer have contact page link like this url/contact-us then we will have to add a redirect url/pages/contact-us

but in your case you are just changing the domain and path will remain the same so you can change the domain and it will not affect and your customer wont land on 404 page

it will be like this from oldUrl/pages/contact-us to newUrl/pages/contact-us
