This might be a silly question but when you go to Top Traffic Sources, do those numbers under direct traffic take into effect for when you as the account holder access your website to look at appearance or modify posts, etc. ? I have around 300+ Direct and wondered if it also counts the times I go in to make modifications to my website.
Hi @Hogare ,
That is not a stupid question at all! The Sessions by referrer report shows you whether your visitors are coming to your store directly, from search, or by a referral.
This would certainly include any time you visit your website, but it does not include when you are editing the page from your theme editor. Any work you do within your store cannot be monitored by analytical tools, it’s only what happens on your storefront that can be tracked.
It’s great that you’re digging into your analytics, and I’d highly recommend you check out our blog post on How To Use Ecommerce Analytics For Your Online Store. I also wrote a blog post on Using Shopify Analytics To Improve Conversions that you might want to check out!
Let me know if you have any other questions!
