Does hosting service required for external app integration?

Hi Team!

This is in regard to the hosting services.

So basically, I have hired a developer to integrate my store and in the same sequence my developer had created an app for reviews and ratings, now he wants to integrate it to my store and asking me that he required a hosting plan for this, which I currently do not have with my domain services. So my question is that the hosting services are really required to integrate any external app to my store? If so, do Shopify has such ability so that the app can be integrated without taking hosting services or does Shopify have such kind of hosting services? I hope I have expressed my concerns better to understand. Looking forward to your assistance.

Most apps require hosting (there might be some exceptions, but these would be rare edge cases).

Shopify doesn’t offer a hosting service at the moment (but we are experimenting with the idea).

If you want to avoid the cost/complexity of getting a hosting service, I would consider searching the Shopify App Store for existing apps that might already do what you need.
