On July 20, Shopify posted the following message on Twitter:
Starting today, if you’re on a Shopify, Advanced Shopify, or Shopify Plus plan, the next shipping label you buy could be eligible for $200 of shipping insurance coverage, at no extra cost to you.
The $200 included shipping insurance is currently on early access, so its availability is still limited. We don’t yet have a date for when general availability will be rolled out, though you can keep an eye out on our Changelog here for Shopify’s newest releases.
We can’t manually opt a store into the early access, so if a store is eligible it will be included when this feature is available to 100% of eligible merchants. You can take a look at the eligibility criteria below:
Shipment will need to be shipped from the United States.
Merchants will need to purchase labels through Shopify Shipping.
Shops must be on either the Shopify, Advanced or Plus plans.
Merchants must have Shopify Payments enabled.
You can also follow the instructions below to check if a shipping label you’re purchasing includes shipping insurance:
Navigate to Orders on your Shopify admin.
Click the order you’d like to purchase a shipping label for.
In the Unfulfilled section, click Create shipping label.
In the Shipping insurance section, confirm that the Shopify Shipping insurance is included.
If you’re having issues locating the shipping insurance on your end, and would like to check your store’s eligibility further, feel free to get in touch with our live support team so that we can take a closer look at your store from our end. To get in touch with our team, you’ll need to login to your store via our help centre here. Once logged in, select a topic that best fits your query or situation. From there, you’ll be taken to a page with a list of relevant support articles, and you can scroll to the bottom of that page to select your preferred contact method with our team.
In the meantime, I’ll leave our help guide below for more information on Shopify’s shipping insurance feature as well as a couple of our blogs to help you further optimise your store’s shipping strategies:
